Meet Shara, a strategist at thinkPARALLAX

Name: Shara Narsipur
Title: Strategist
Current residence: San Diego
Hometown: NYC
Fun fact:

My partner and I have a converted van! We use it to do weekend warrior trips to Big Bear and Joshua Tree all the time and have taken several larger trips up and down the west coast.

Tell us about your background. How did you end up at tPX?

I started my career at a boutique content marketing agency before reorienting to the environmental sector. After agency life and some traveling, I moved to San Diego to work in industry relations for the blue economy (ocean/water related technology) and then communications for a startup in the emerging alternative protein/foodtech industry. I found tPX because a friend of mine from the sustainability community connected me with the Impact Happy Hours that they host in Encinitas. Through this connection, I actually ended up working with tPX on the client side before joining the team! Being a part of thinkPARALLAX has felt like a natural next step to my career that marries my agency background with my climate comms focus.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I bring a unique mix of strategic communication expertise and industry knowledge of rapidly evolving climate sectors like bluetech, biotech, agtech, and foodtech. I’m passionate about making technical, often abstract concepts accessible to different audiences and dreaming up communications strategies and projects that can effectively speak to these audiences.

thinkPARALLAX’s purpose is to inspire fresh perspectives on sustainable business transformation. What perspective do you bring to tPX, our clients, and/or our industry?

My blend of experience has given me a deep understanding of how to craft compelling narratives for cutting-edge industries with complex communications challenges and opportunities.

I have a B.A. in business with a focus on entrepreneurship and recently completed my graduate studies in rhetoric, with a focus on environmental narratives. With this background, I approach sustainability communications not just as a one-off messaging exercise, but as a tool to build trust, inspire action, and create lasting impact.  I’ve explored how narratives shape public perception and drive industry momentum. I’m excited to bring this insight to thinkPARALLAX and help clients translate sustainability commitments into powerful, authentic stories!

What’s a project you’ve worked on (at tPX or a previous role) that you really enjoyed or that felt really meaningful?

I’ve done everything from PR to internal communications to digital marketing, but a project that gave me a lot of joy in a previous role was organizing a trade mission for an overseas event in order to showcase companies in the climate technology space. It was so inspiring to learn about the variety of climate technology solutions and introduce founders in the space to potential partners, customers, and suppliers. The ecosystem around climate resilience is so strong and supportive!

What causes are you most interested in?

I’m deeply invested in environmental justice, sustainable food systems, and creating pathways for equitable access to resources. I also care about amplifying underrepresented voices in sustainability discourse and using storytelling to drive meaningful change!

What brings you joy outside of work?

Being creative is a huge source of energy and inspiration for me. To that effect, I have so many hobbies that I’m constantly juggling at any given time. Some of them include crocheting, embroidery, charcoal sketching, and reading (I’m in two amazing book clubs). I love to cook and dabble in fermentation with things like bread, pickles, and kefir. I also love live music and being outside and active with things like yoga, surfing, diving, and camping! I also find it really important to give back to my community, so I try to volunteer where I can and have been leading a mentor group for foster youth through Urban Surf 4 Kids for about five years!
